The greatest of a nation and its moral progress can be seen in the way its animals are treated, said Mahatma Gandhi. Well, Fluvanna did not get the message for both human and non-human animals. We know how they have woefully lacked giving me care. Today there is a little bird outside of our unit in trouble. It appears to have run into the fence and is a fledgling who was just learning to fly. It is now upside down flopping around and helpless in the unrelenting sun. I am guessing it is a right wing injury based on the positioning and actions of the poor little thing. The parents are desperately trying to help of course to no avail. I was told that I could help animals in trouble and need to get an officer, which I did. They will not allow me to help this poor little bird. We must protect animals any way we can and this lack of care indicates a far greater lack of care at Fluvanna for life.
